Design studio Aurora Design completed a project for the Jin Tea venue, a space that tries to project the traditional atmosphere of tea combined with the aspect of quality and luxury. Store is located in Yunnan, one of the main tea producers in China with a culture dating back 2,100 years.

The environment gives prominence to bamboo, a symbol of great importance in Chinese culture, and to the play of natural elements such as the leaf of this plant and the play of light and shadow to project different shapes. Combination between the traditional favors the importance given to the design of the space and the experience of the consumers.

Aurora Design tried to be inspired by the tea culture, following the style of its brand in this project. Tranquillity and peace are the sensations experienced in a setting full of life. People and nature are in harmony with each other, and people's minds have become more abundant.

Using the slab as the main material, the design is simple and elegant. A green bamboo-shaded glass wall gives the space a more ethereal and oriental feel. Functions such as shaded areas in open spaces, product display, storage and lighting have been hidden. Save all the traditional decorations for this project and focus on nature.

Description of project by Aurora Design

Bordered by Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam, Yunnan is one of the major producers of tea in China, and its tea culture dates back 2,100 years. Tea has been loved by people since ancient times, and to find out how special it is, you still need to experience it for yourself.

01
For Jin Tea Space, the designer utilized bamboo, which is a symbol of the spiritual core of traditional Chinese culture as well as tea, to create a modern tea retail store. She realized that the key to retail space is not only product display, but also the space design and consumers' experiences

The projection of bamboo leaves in the store creates an ethereal and peaceful environment, bringing tranquillity and the lightness of nature to this secluded part of the city. Throughout the interior, the "leaves" and "light" at different heights form a circular path that contributes to the fluidity of the space.

Using slab as the main material, with a green bamboo shadow glass wall, the space is more ethereal and oriental. Tranquillity, and peace, via the most simple reflection create a full scene of life. People and nature are in harmony with each other, and people’s minds have become more abundant.

The display area and the experiencing area produce an echoing harmony with each other. The walls of the experiencing area are simple and plain, but the intervention of light and shadow breaks the dullness of only colour, and under light and shadow, the whole environment is amazingly delicate,  giving the viewers a feeling of being in nature.

Passing the bamboo shadow, from noise to quietness, the space is surrounded by a large area of artificial bamboo, which forms a serene landscape. The device with a “sense of immersion” outlines the beauty of the bamboo forest, fades heavy colours, and integrates modern elegance. At the same time, functions, like open-space shaded areas, product display, storage and lighting have been hidden. Three-dimensionality makes the image of the swaying bamboo shadow more real, resulting in a scene-by-scene illusion so that people could feel the traditional culture when entering.

The simple strip-like leaf outline creates a quiet atmosphere, and the soft winding curve leads viewers into infinite reverie, together with the extensive use of gradient green lighting creates a minimalist aesthetic atmosphere between reality and emptiness.

02
The designer followed the consistent style of her brand in this project, from the overall posture of the store to every single detail, manifesting ethereal beauty from the female’s perspective and projecting the emotional perception. She also achieved the aim of pure cleanness of space, building a rhythmic retail store with the concept of bamboo and creating a romantic spot in the balance of ancient civilization and modern aesthetics.

Aurora Design tried to draw inspiration from tea culture which enjoys a history of thousands of years to present a new design idea, hoping to create a new brand image for Jin Tea Space and convey a modern interpretation of a store rooted in traditional tea culture.

As for this project, the design team hopes that the simple and elegant design will bring inner peace and pleasure to customers, and advise them to respect nature and draw energy from it. The fast pace of modern urban life and the pressure of survival have even compressed time for rest and recreation. Aurora Design spares all traditional decorations from this project, developing freely, with a flower, a stone, a wood, a well, and a cup of tea, making people in a pleasant quietness, savour tranquillity, and embrace urban prosperity in peace.
