The proposal designed by Marcio Kogan and Suzana Glogowski of Studio MK27 aimed to create a space where the indoor-outdoor connection, typical of warmer climates, would be possible. They conceived a large glass box, a weightless volume that appears to float above the hillside, opening up to nature while simultaneously inviting the outside world in.
The structure was positioned at an angle on its plot to maximize the views and was designed on three levels: a semi-sunken basement containing the garage; a ground floor housing a guest bedroom and the pedestrian entrance, including a terrace with a swimming pool; and a grand piano nobile, encased in glass panels, which serves as the main living area.
The house was built using natural materials as Dinesen oak and local Ocean Pearl slabs, combined with a concrete base and an upper metal structure.

Project description by Studio MK27
The main challenge of this project was to create a strong connection between internal and external spaces, typical of studio mk27 projects in tropical climates, but in this case, in Whistler, a ski station in Canada, where winters are harsh.
The research for spaces able to create this feeling of belonging to the surrounding nature without foregoing the necessary insulation for the house. The result was a glass box leaning on another.
This gesture, of projecting outwards the mountain, of flotation over he site responds to the wish of integration with the landscape. In contrast with the transparent upper volume, the basement is a metallic surface that, in a way, merges with the snow.
