All media occupy physical space. Books and magazines on paper. Films and television on screens. Signs and advertisements on posts and billboards. Not all media, however, are interactive. With the advent of the computational systems, the development of large-scale display devices, and recent improvements in sensing technologies, the landscape of interactive media has fundamentally changed. What was previously constrained to the world of keyboards, mice and screens is now open to the world of architectural surfaces and spaces. With these new media come new questions for both designers and for technologists. How should an interactive table be constructed?
