The visit to the unique properties boutique The Sibarist, organized for the Open House 2016 event, will revolve around three unique spaces, each with its own individual presence: The Sibarist Pop Up, The Sibarist Greenhouse and The Sibarist 1870.
The Sibarist Pop Up is located inside the headquarters of the company (11, San Lorenzo Street, Madrid), a building dating from the early nineteenth century that has been preserved in its original state. With a direct access from the street, the room is equipped with large windows original moldings on the walls. It is a very flexible space that can be used depending on the furniture as a room for courses or a showroom. During the Open House Madrid 2016 festival will feature a pictorial exhibition of the french artist REMED.
The access to the The Sibarist Greenhouse is made through a bright and spacious courtyard of the building aforementioned. This nineteenth century building still conserves its original iron structure, which is believed to have been commissioned by the Jiménez Marquis. The interior surface of 76 sqm, is organized in two floors. This space is used as a set for events, cocktail parties, exhibitions, etc.
The space is hosting a special sale of the autumn/winter 15/16 collection by Angel Schleeser from September 30 to October 8 .
The first plans of greenhouse, which date from 1807, were commissioned on the request of the construction of a new façade and approved by Juan de Villanueva. In the mid-nineteenth century, the Jiménez Marquis acquires the property and is credited with the construction of the emblematic greenhouse. In this reform the new facade acquires an Elizabethan style that lasts over time. Later, his sons and heirs, Viscount Torre-Almirante and Baroness Monte-Villena, divide the property into two, creating two entrances to the building that we know today.
Finally, The Sibarist 1870 is composed by some rooms located in a now students residence dating back to 1870, when it was built as the residence of the Villa Magna Marquis. Throughout its century and a half of life, the venue has been occupied by a Vatican university, and then become female residence of the Servants of Vatican Saint Lorenzo and finally the student residence we know today. The space consists of three rooms set in line that retain their original appearance due to the respectful renovations, which conserved its original structure and details. The space, where the original frescoes of the nineteenth century still decorate the walls, is fully adapted to contemporary use and can be the perfect setting to acclimate events.
