A trip to the past. A revival of something that was, that disappeared. The construction of a memory. Since early June until July 31th, because of the PHotoEspaña International Festival and the OFF Festival, is possible to visit the works of Juan Garaizábal, and his project Urban Memoirs in Álvaro Alcázar Gallery. From sketches on photographs of an old Paris, to models of the iron and light instalation in Berlin.

Venue: Álvaro Alcázar Gallery. C/ Castelló 41. 28001 Madrid
Dates: From June 7 to July 31 of 2012.

The Urban Memoirs produced by Juan Garaizabal (Madrid, 1971) are large-format art installations that aim to give material expression to the spirit of buildings now gone. Beauty is an absolute value, but in choosing to give monumental shape to a conspicuous absence, Garaizabal seeks and captures the heroic aspect of their history. This undertaking, at once ethical and aesthetic, makes a major contribution to the shaping of a set of soul portraits, in which integrity takes pride of place.
