Some specific projects for women and electric mobility stand out among the winners, as well as different sustainable lighting systems. The award ceremony for the ADI 2018 Awards closed the Barcelona Design Week program, which took place between the 5th and the 14th. June

On June 14, at 8:00 pm, the award ceremony of the ADI 2018 Awards took place, organized by the ADI-FAD Industrial Design Association, some awards that bring together the main awards in the field of industrial design and product of Spain: the Delta Awards, for professionals and industrial design companies, granted since 1961; the ADI Medals, for students of product design, delivered since 1976; and the ADI Culture Awards, for projects that promote and value the culture of design.

The delivery of the ADI 2018 Awards closed the Barcelona Design Week program, organized jointly by the FAD and the BCD. During the ceremony, ADI-FAD members and assistants were able to vote and award the Opinion Award among all the projects selected in each of the three awards and it was for Landscape with the design of Emiliana Design Studio (Ana Mir, Emili Padrós).

All selected products and winners of the three prizes that make up the ADI Awards are part of the exhibition "The Best Design of the Year", which includes the selected projects and winners of the various awards organized by the associations of the FAD, and which may be Visit the Disseny Hub Barcelona until October 14, 2018. In addition, all the projects selected by the different judges of the ADI 2018 Awards are part of the ADI Book.

Delta Awards 2018 

A total of 85 selected projects opted this year for the Delta Awards, which celebrate its 39th consolidated edition as a platform for public recognition and the promotion of innovative products that propose conceptual renovations, contribute environmental concerns and sustainability and are at the same Once an example of design and manufacturing quality.

In this edition, the Delta Awards have been divided into five categories, with the aim of highlighting the great variety and difference of products presented in each edition, marketed in the national and international markets.

The jury, formed by Luca Nichetto, designer and founder of the interdisciplinary studio Nichettostudio; Isabel Lopez, interior designer; Anna Cybulska, Director of Communication and Interior Design at IKEA Spain; Pepe García, product designer and founder of the Culdesac studio, and Joan Forrellad, vice president of Design and Marketing at Jané, have decided to award 5 Deltas de Oro and 10 Deltas de Plata.

Products for people.- utensils, small machines, prosthetics, welfare and personal hygiene, jewelry, fashion accessories, clothing and shoes, sports products, etc.

Description: Therapeutic baby carrier shirt, intended exclusively for carrying premature babies, low weight or delicate health, through the Kangaroo Method, healthier and based on the benefit of skin-to-skin contact, using the heat of the mother's body or of the father. Melic is the result of the union between the most advanced textile technology -seamless with OEKO-TEX® certification- with the traditional knowledge of the care of premature babies. It provides autonomy to the caregiver, comfort and well-being, as well as security and surveillance for the newborn.

Jury verdict: For its simplicity, naturalness, multifunctionality for women and children. The product works not only as a mere accessory but also becomes an extension of the body itself.

Description: Tekiò, a name derived from the Japanese word "adaptation", transforms an ancient Japanese craft into a contemporary LED lighting system in which, based on washi paper modules, vertical suspension lamps, horizontal lines, circles and ovals Anthony Dickens was inspired by Chochin, the traditional Japanese paper lantern. Santa & Cole edits Tekiò thanks to the work done with the best craftsmen of Japan, combining traditional processes, high quality materials and new technologies, while taking advantage of the local cultural heritage and the tradition of working with paper. Paper is a delicate, flexible and malleable material, the folds make it more resistant and modify its opacity. Paper filters light, clarifies it. Tekiò is a decorative light that creates slow surroundings with a light that sets the mood and illuminates in a low voice.

Jury verdict: For having created a lighting system that uses a traditional material such as paper and applies craftsmanship techniques in a timeless product.

Description: Pavement for exterior and interior. The Clover tile reveals an interpretation of the nature of exciting reductionism and high poetic intentionality. The result is a beautiful pavement of botanical inspiration and extraordinary versatility of aggregation. The combination of the three hexagons forms a trefoil with the rib in high relief that provides excellent anti-slip conditions, as well as a comfortable tread. The plasticity of its design allows aggregations in hexagonal tiling. Manufactured in vibro-pressure bilayer concrete in gray or greenish gray of 45 mm thickness. Alternatively in HPC (High Performance Concrete) with thicknesses of 27 mm and 17 mm.

Jury verdict: For a Mediterranean and organic design that is identified as a neomodernism in Barcelona and shows the relevance of the use of decorative flooring in urban furniture.

Description: Electric bicycle that combines design, technology and innovation to go further in the easiest way. Of agile handling, his concept responds to two big objectives: simplicity and lightness.

It incorporates a removable battery, perfectly integrated and protected, allowing a range of 50 km. The uniqueness of the frame, clean and silent transmission belt, powerful hydraulic disc brakes, effective gear changes and 24 "wheels, make oh_24 the lightest bike, only 15 kg, resistant and comfortable. The integrated bionic technology adapts to the cyclist and assists him for optimal and efficient pedaling.

Jury verdict: To solve a basic electric bicycle, which seems very little designed but is practical, light and attractive.

Description: Collection of projectors and profilers for interior with LED technology, installed in minirail with low voltage power. The system allows the use of different dimensions of

projectors and a wide range of powers and optics, among which stand out the optics for contour projectors, which allow to profile exact cones of light with a high luminous density and efficiency. The use of CoB LEDs, combined with a collimator element and a telecentric reflector with a lens base, emits a precise beam of light without chromatic aberration. Available in diameters of 51, 35 and 19 mm, Palco Low Voltage is ideal in environments of museums and commercial spaces.

Jury verdict: For being a very simple way to cut out the light and expand the possibilities of how to illuminate an area in a space. Take advantage of the paradigm shift of the LED in a very easy to apply gesture.

Awards Medals ADI 2018

The ADI Medals are prizes focused on young designers, with a Final Project that was approved between 2016 and the current call, which has the support of Fundació Banc Sabadell.
Out of a total of 13 selected projects, the jury has decided to award 3 ADI Medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze), which will receive a trophy designed by Roc Miranda, winner of the 2016 ADI Gold Medal. The jury of the ADI Medals, formed by Emili Padrós, Harry Paul Van Ierssel, Stefano Maffei and Roc Miranda.

Description: During the menstrual cycle, women use different products to take care of their hygiene, among which we find the menstrual cup, a reusable product that has to go through several phases of cleaning and sterilization. Minial aims to be at the service of women who use this type of product and improve their quality of life through sterilization and cleaning of the menstrual cup anywhere thanks to its portable and personal nature. The device made of ABS and silicone follows a simple but at the same time ergonomic aesthetics that allows users to clean the cup outside the home simply by shaking and sterilizing it in less than fifteen minutes in a suitable container suitable for this type of product.

Jury verdict: A project awarded for improving the usability of new feminine intimate hygiene products. Minial connects with the sensibilities and needs of contemporary women, encouraging reuse and contributing to the reduction of waste and resources.

ADI Culture 2018 Awards

The ADI Culture Awards aim to promote the recognition of those projects that help to promote and update social and conceptual product design, or that serve to encourage dialogue, ideas and the activity of the discipline. These awards have two categories: Project, in which a project carried out in the last three years will be rewarded, and Trayectoria, which aims to pay homage to those people or entities with a remarkable influence in the world of design.

The jury is made up of Martín Azúa, Valentín Roma, Anna Puigjaner and Ethel Baraona Pohl, the latter winner of the previous edition of the 2016 ADI Culture Award.

The Humanium Metal project, which melts the arms to turn them into metal ingots, and Topographies of homelessness, for Arrels Fundació, takes the ADI Culture Project Award, while the Trajectory Award falls on the edition Gustavo Gili.
