In Barcelona, during the weekend of 22 & 23 October 2011 and in it’s second consecutive year, 48H Open House BCN (OHB_2011) will be held. This informative and completely free event, which during the first edition opened more than 130 buildings of different types, shapes and sizes to the public and which was enjoyed by more than 25.000 people, maintains its commitment of bringing closer and popularising the excellence of good architecture and urbanism.
In the general and free spirit essential to the idiosyncrasies of this event, the criterias of rigor and quality, both present in the offer of buildings and open spaces as to the involvement of architects, planners and users are added. Professionals who share their work and experience with visitors an encouraging “face to face” dialogue and exchange of views. A participatory and civic philosophy is reinforced by the considerable number of volunteers, associates and owners, both public and private, who in addition to showing interest in architecture and the built up environment, confirm the collaborative spirit which identifies Barcelonians.
