Architecture studio Estudio Atemporal has been in charge of the construction of a single-family home on a unique plot of land due to its climate, topography, vegetation and sunshine in Valle de Bravo, a municipality located on Lake Avándaro, west of Mexico City, in Mexico.

The project is based on the understanding of the site, therefore the architects decided to generate a program broken down into different volumes, located in the spaces empty of vegetation, to avoid the movement of trees as much as possible. The volumes blend in with the context and architecture of the area, allowing the site as such to be the main attraction.
Casa Mola, designed by the architecture studio Estudio Atemporal, is a single-family home that responds to the need to generate a series of experiences and routes between interiors and exteriors throughout the entire building.

The different exterior routes between the volumes allow direct contact between the user and nature, as do the different instances that, thanks to large windows, allow the perception of interior and exterior spaces to be lost.

In the construction of the building, the carbon footprint of the building was taken into account, so they used some strategies such as: construction with local materials, reinjection of rainwater into the earth, low-consumption lighting and equipment...

Description of project by Estudio Atemporal

The project is based on a series of considerations directly related to the understanding of the site for the development of its needs: climate, topography, vegetation and sunlight.

The disaggregation of the program into different volumes was proposed, the arrangement of which on the ground depends on the identification of clearing areas large enough to avoid the movement of trees to the extent possible.

Their arrangement responds to a need to generate a series of experiences and routes between interiors and exteriors that are present at all times. At the same time, this location avoids blocking the views between them and seeks to have optimal sunlight.

How does this work improve the user's quality of life?
The routes to the different volumes allow direct contact with the environment. The house, surrounded by the forest and far from close neighbors, is a place of silence and contemplation towards nature.

The volumes blend in with the context and architecture of the area, allowing the site as such to be the main attraction.

What are its positive impacts on health, well-being and/or productivity?
Creating spaces that consider their outdoor space and context as an important part to consider in the design allows the change in the way of living to happen organically. Being inside protects from weather conditions and generates intimate moments, being outside extends spatial appropriation to the entire forest, generating respite from a more hectic life.

Atemporal is a multidisciplinary studio made up of architects. It was founded in Mexico City in 2011 with the purpose of creating spaces through a comprehensive design process. The studio is currently led by Luciana de la Garza and Paul Curuchet.

Its design process is based on research and context analysis to understand the present, and reach a proposal that does not refer to the past or condition the future. The studio's ideology is synthesized in its name: “Timeless”, which escapes time, is not conditioned and remains.
