Taken by the astronauts from the International Space Station and European Space Agency and NASA satellites, the photographic process is not as simple as it could seem. The International Space Station orbits Earth at 7 km/s so using a tripod is not an option for night-time photography. Even if the camera is perfectly still, the Station moves so fast any images of Earth at night will still look blurred. Even if the camera is stationary, the station is moving so fast that the images of the Earth at night would still blurry. Until the arrival of the new system NightPod installed on the International Space Station, astronauts had to hold the air He had to estimate the correct speed to move his camera and compensate by hand. The result of the new system are images of much higher quality and definition.
