German architecture studio DREI ARCHITEKTEN designed the construction project for the new sports hall of a school located in the district of Zell, belonging to the city of Esslingen am Neckar, Germany.

The project is being carried out to rehabilitate the existing pavilion that had become obsolete and did not comply with energy saving norms, nor those of safety in case of fires.
The pavilion built by the German studio DREI ARCHITEKTEN, has facilities for three sports fields with additional fitness and gym rooms, along with all the necessary changing rooms, sanitary facilities and storage areas. The entire organization is carried out in a single plant.

The east-west orientation allows the use of natural light and ventilation in the sports hall, fitness rooms and changing rooms.

The sloping green roof of the pavilion is supported by laminated wooden beams. With the change in facade materials, the volume of the building is organized into two parts: a larger base section and the additional volume where the sports hall is located.

Description of project by DREI ARCHITEKTEN

The original sports hall of a school complex in Esslingen-Zell did not meet energy and fire protection standards.

It was replaced by a new triple-field sports hall with additional fitness and gym rooms, along with all necessary changing rooms, restroom facilities, and storage areas. All parts are organized on one level, including the spaces for the main technical installations. The windows of the sports hall, training rooms and changing areas in the east and west elevations allow the use of natural light and natural ventilation.

The green, slightly sloping roof of the sports hall is supported by laminated wooden beams. With the change of facade materials, the volume of the building is organized into two parts: a larger base section and the additional volume of the sports hall.
