Ricard Ginebreda F3 Sports Area project designed by Roger Méndez, architect from AMB, is the third and final phase of this project, located in the Bajo Llobregat region, in Barcelona, Spain. The project was designed to create a new sports area around the existing soccer field.

In this phase, this field is completed, in addition to a bleacher area, with new facilities such as an area for the practice of rhythmic gymnasium, changing rooms and a room for entities, as well as a climbing wall space to practice climbing, looking for thus concentrating more sports, such as weightlifting or judo, for example.
AMB has planned the last phase of the Ricard Ginebreda F3 Sports Area to enhance, promote the sport in the town, seeking a relationship with the neighborhood and the park that surrounds the area in response to the cut that the road produces B-23, in front of the sports area.

For its final composition, in the project by Roger Méndez, durable and low-maintenance materials were chosen to last over time despite the wear and tear that the activities carried out there could cause, seeking an industrial character connected with the urban context, without forgetting to incorporate solutions that provide a great light entry and natural ventilation.

Description of project by Roger Méndez-AMB

The proposal includes the desire to create new equipment around the already existing football field of a deeply rooted club in the Canal de Molins de Rei neighborhood. It was about accommodating, in addition to the already established entity, other sports such as weightlifting, judo, climbing, or artistic gymnastics.

The momentum of the new equipment is used to improve the urban context. The enclosure was very isolated due to the old perimeter fence, but also due to the poor relation of the neighborhood with the adjacent park. On another scale, it made the relationship with the free spaces that connect with the river difficult, due to the cut produced by the passage of the B-23 through the municipality.

The materials have been chosen for durability and low maintenance, so they convey a certain industrial character that fits very well with the historical and urban context of the neighborhood. However, the quality commitment of the project is to provide natural light and ventilation in all rooms to offer comfort to users and promote energy savings in the facilities.

The context of budgetary austerity at the beginning of the project (2012) made it necessary to propose a long-term response. A master plan was defined that foresaw the growth of the equipment in phases, as resources could be enabled to execute them. Finally, it has ended up being executed in three work awards, ending in 2014, 2016, and 2020.
