A few kilometers from Bera town, architecture studio Jordi Hidalgo Tané extended a small stone building in rural area.

Bera is a town and municipality located in the province and autonomous community of Navarre, northern Spain, linked to France via the border crossings at Ibardin and Lizuniaga.

The area is located in the valley formed by the river Bidasoa crosses the town before entering Gipuzkoa at Endarlatsa, and joining the Cantabrian Sea.
The former building, called Landaburu Borda, sits close to a green hillside. The project designed by Jordi Hidalgo Tané renewed the old building and extend hidden under the adjacent hillside, with a subterranean concrete annex accessed via a glass corridor.

The extensión houses a typical large living, dining and kitchen area looking the original building through a large window.

"A spacious annex living area with a kitchen [is] built inside the mountain, becoming part of it, as if the annex had been there before the old construction was built."
Jordi Hidalgo Tané.

Project description by Jordi Hidalgo Tané

A few kilometers from Bera, the "Landaburu borda" is a small traditional building, anchored  in the magnificent landscape  of the Navarre mountains.

To work in this exceptional location is an exercise of respect to the fragile building and especially to the mystical power of the Navarra mountains, rich in history and legends.

The program consist in a rural house with a few rooms site in the existing building, and a spacious annex living area with kitchen built inside the mountain becoming part of it, as if the annex had been there before the  old construction was built.

All construct in concrete and wood.

Sheltered inside the  “cave”, we observes the magnificent landscape that is in front of us.
