The 36-unit social housing building designed by Nicolas Hugoo Architecture offers its residents access through a landscaped area overlooking the grounds and the public garden. Inside, the architectural program comprises apartments ranging from one to five bedrooms, with outdoor spaces that include loggias, balconies, and private terraces.
With a focus on future interior adaptations, the building utilizes a combination of wooden slats and a post-and-beam concrete structure, chosen for their efficiency and long-term durability

Volumetry serving the urban project
This parallelogram-shaped lot necessitated the present building with its sharp angle. The location andvolumetry of the project seek to soften this angularity by playing with inflection. Along the Rue GerdaTaro, this new building front is intersected by porches atop which winter gardens are placed, allowinglight to penetrate from the south and offer views over the green heart of the neighborhood from thestreet.
The comfort of everyday uses
Occupants enter the building through a porchopening onto a landscaped area offering aperspective deep into the parcel and all the wayto the public garden. Circulation inside thebuilding is facilitated by natural light on thefaçade at the level of the stairs, separated fromlandings by a glass door. The flats, ranging from1 to 5 rooms, have been designed to meetdifferent needs and the outdoor extensionsvary: loggias, balconies and private terraces. The largest flats enjoy double exposure as theyare situated at the angles of the building.
Blended construction methods
Lifecycle and environmental performance guidethe construction methods implemented on theproject, as evidenced in the elementaryassociation of wooden strips and a concrete postand slab structure. This approach creates openplans that allow for future interior adaptationsas needed.
