The results of the jury's decision have been made public for the fourth edition of the student architecture project competition that is held annually within the Ceramics Chair of the ETSA of Madrid. On this occasion, the architect Toni Gironés served as a single jury.

The evaluation of the different works has attempted to value those who have understood the competition as an opportunity to reflect on the material condition of non-structural ceramics applied to architecture.

Jury agreement:

For the quality of the proposal that manages to project the public place as a sum of domestic areas, for managing the climate by harmoniously linking natural elements and materials, and for the use of ceramics as a material that in different registers skillfully works with the topography and the limits of the project, the jury decides to award the 2nd mention to the motto “a shadow in Fez”.

For investigating the value of space and optimizing energy in low-density homes, using the properties of ceramics with natural elements in a possible cycle of comfort. To experience the properties of space by managing the limits with the ceramic material as an intermediary, the jury decided to award the 1st mention to the motto "boxH2O".

For using the knowledge accumulated over time following those principles of taking advantage of or protecting natural elements to achieve habitable spaces. By objectively understanding the place and the conditions with which the user will interact, proposing a mediating architecture in extreme situations. And for skillfully addressing certain conditions of non-structural ceramics as an attraction in the silence of the desert, the jury decided to award the 2nd prize to the motto "aljibe".

For materializing touch, vibration, sound, reflection,… and multiple essential properties of ceramics in an action/manifesto project that is committed to stopping, reflecting, looking and learning while practising a transversal and critical look, the jury decides to award 1st prize to the motto “how to make a crash”.

The jury's decision has been made public coinciding with the 1st edition of the “Ceramics and Architecture” Congress that was held on Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24 in Madrid. The objective of the Congress has been to share the experience related to the study, innovation and constructive and compositional design application of different ceramic materials within contemporary architecture.
