This Monday, April 18, takes place in Barcelona a conference by Pier Paolo Tamburelli, founder of the Italian Baukuh architecture practice and "San Rocco" architectural research magazine. This talk is part of the “Foro” lecture series, organized by the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture. During the event the speaker will give his point of view on the abstract nature which, according to Tamburelli, requires public architecture.

This approach to the configuration of public architecture will be explained through the example of a project developed by Baukuh: the House of Memory in Milan. Tamburelli claims that public spaces must lack of any kind of content, so that they only contain what citizens wish to provide. The project of the young Italian practice echoes this vision through the creation of a public space that contains the memory of the Milanese solely through its facades.
According to Pier Paolo Tamburelli: “Architecture [is] an abstract production of the concave, a careful calculation of a desireless receptacle of others’ desires, a humble development of a technology for giving precision to the memories of others.”
The conference is included in the "Foro" series of lectures organized by the UIC, which this year celebrates its eighteenth edition under the theme of "Origin".

Baukuh is a young office based in Milan and Geneve. It was founded in 2004 by Paolo Carpi, Silvia Lupi, Vittorio Pizzigoni, Giacomo Summa, Pier Paolo Tamburelli and Andrea Zanderigo. Tamburelli has been nominated to the Wheelwright 2016 prize, given by the GSD of Harvard University, a platform which aims to promote new investigation forms based in the intercultural commitment.
