Inspired by the sensual and cyclical nature of soil, the Turkish Pavilion presents "Grounded," a project that is part of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia 2025. Translating the inherent versatility of the earth into architectural expression, curators Ceren Erdem and Bilge Kalfa invite visitors to reconsider their relationship with nature, exploring the richness and depth of the soil beneath our feet.

In line with the agenda set by Biennale curator Carlo Ratti, "Grounded" highlights the centrality of soil and its vital role in the development of civilizations, ecosystems, and sustainability.

The Turkish Pavilion team, comprised of Ceren Erdem and Bilge Kalfa, proposes a renewed focus on the climate emergency, livelihoods, and cyclical systems. Throughout the exhibition, visitors are invited to experience a variety of textures, scents, and sounds.

With a critical yet hopeful perspective, "Grounded" opens a space that stimulates dialogue about industrialization while highlighting Turkey's cultural heritage, archaeological sites, and sustainable building practices. Emphasizing a sustainable approach to architecture, the proposal integrates local techniques and new technologies.

In addition, a publication of the same name accompanies the project, addressing the exhibition's structuring theme from the perspective of authors from different disciplines. Articles and videos about the artworks and architectural projects in the exhibition, along with personal accounts from the curators about the creation of "Grounded," complete the publication.
