Yesterday, it was opening the exhibition "ARQUITECTURA SUIZA, paisaje y sostenibilidad en la arquitectura contemporánea" at Sala de las Arquerías, de Madrid.

Elegance, rigor, sobriety, and technical perfection are some of the qualities associated regularly with Swiss architecture. Without necessarily relinquishing them, it is clear that the complexity and diversity of situations faced by contemporary architecture demands new approaches, new ways of evaluating the beauty and usefulness of the forms.

This exhibition relates the Swiss architecture with two concepts that go beyond mere "purpose built" and possible formal and technical perfection. This material meets two samples arriving for the first time to Spain. On the one hand, "Swiss Positions: 33 takes on Sustainable Approaches to building", presented through great pictures a complex view of the issue of sustainable development, away from the clichés of bioclimatic architecture. On the other hand, "The Swiss Touch in Landscape Architecture" offers a tour of the tradition, the present and future of landscape architecture at the Swiss country, field tests of some of the most interesting recent research.

A program of parallel events, with debates and projections, will further extend these approaches (see PDF). Two complementary views, marked by ecological awareness, demonstrating once again the richness and innovativeness of Swiss architecture, an inexhaustible source of inspiration worldwide.
