In this way, the sounds are not located, they do not belong to a place, they are not inside an enclosure, but the enclosures are part of the sound itself. This becomes interesting when we enter into the relationship between architecture and sound composition, where spaces not only affect what is interpreted but space itself is valued as an instrument.
So if we talk about good music and architecture, what is made by Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto is interesting. Known for creating great soundscapes and being behind the score of the movie The Revenant by Alejandro González Iñárritu, this duo will launch next February, a new material together, which takes as support the well-known Glass House designed by Philip Johnson in Connecticut.


This new production will be called Glass, was performed live and is the result of a 45 minute improvisation. Also in this new album, Noto and Sakamoto experimented with a keyboard, mixers, glass bowls, crotales, microphones and of course, with the architecture of the building.

Philip Johnson was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He was descended from the Jansen family of New Amsterdam, and included among his ancestors the Huguenot Jacques Cortelyou, who laid out the first town plan of New Amsterdam for Peter Stuyvesant. He attended the Hackley School, in Tarrytown, New York, and then studied at Harvard University as an undergraduate, where he focused on history and more
