Torre 2271 is a multi-family housing project designed by Di Frenna Arquitectos in a serene region north of Colima, Mexico. Bordered by waterways and lush vegetation, the building draws inspiration from the beauty of the natural surroundings, providing living spaces that allow residents to contemplate the surrounding landscape.

The design focuses on highlighting the strategic value of its location: to the north, residents can enjoy the imposing view of the Colima Volcano; to the south, the building offers views of the city. Torre 2271 is a multi-family building that promotes a philosophy of contemplative living in constant harmony with nature.

Formally, the project by Di Frenna Arquitectos combines exposed concrete beams with a system of windows and balconies that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior. At the heart of the complex, the succession of living spaces is articulated by a metal staircase.

Inside, the different apartment layouts are conceived as spacious and well-lit areas that maximize the connection with the outdoors through generous balconies offering panoramic views of the green spaces and the city of Colima. Torre 2271 presents itself as a refuge for living in balance and harmony with nature, promoting a tranquil and serene lifestyle, in contrast to the accelerated pace of contemporary life.

Project description by Di Frenna Arquitectos

In a tranquil region north of Colima, an architectural project rises that seeks to do more than simply provide a place to live. Tower 2271 is a testament to the harmonious interaction between humankind and its natural environment, a multi-family retreat that embodies a philosophy of contemplative living in balance with nature.

From its inception, the project was designed with the natural beauty and serenity of the site in mind. The land, bordered by streams that flow almost year-round, is enveloped in a verdant embrace formed by majestic Parota, Fig, Primavera, and Palm trees. These elements not only enhance the landscape but also provide privacy, an increasingly precious quality in our modern world.

The tower's strategic location offers a constant dialogue with the landscape. To the north, residents can revel in the imposing view of the Colima Volcano, a reminder of nature's power and tranquility. To the south, the city of Colima unfolds, offering a vibrant and dynamic contrast. The tower's front facade, flanked by a small garden and a stream, ensures no immediate neighbors, reinforcing the sense of seclusion and privacy.

The architecture of Tower 2271 is a symphony of forms and materials that engage with its surroundings. The main facade, with its timber-framed concrete beams, features a play of windows and balconies that allow for a constant connection between the interior and exterior. At the heart of the project, a vertical staircase becomes the building's spine, uniting the spaces and providing a dynamic architectural experience.

The rear of the tower is an ode to the surrounding vegetation, with balconies on every level offering panoramic views of the green space and the city of Colima. This arrangement not only maximizes the views but also invites residents to live in harmony with nature, to pause and appreciate the beauty that surrounds them.

The interior design is conceived to reflect a balanced and serene lifestyle. On the first two levels, two two-bedroom duplex apartments stand out for their double-height spaces and cantilevered staircases. These elements create a sense of spaciousness and freedom, inviting natural light to flood the spaces. Each duplex includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, powder room, and service area on the ground floor, while the upper floor houses two bedrooms with a shared bathroom and a TV room.

On the third level, two two-bedroom apartments are arranged on a single level, offering a functional and elegant design. These apartments feature a living room, dining room, kitchen, and service area, in addition to two bedrooms and a shared bathroom.

The top levels are reserved for the penthouse and the rooftop terrace. The penthouse, with its open design, integrates the living room, dining room, and kitchen, creating an ideal space for socializing and reflection. This level also includes a bedroom with a shared bathroom and a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. The rooftop, meanwhile, is a sanctuary of relaxation, with a bar, hammock area, table, small pool, bathroom, and storage, offering an ideal space for contemplation and enjoyment.

Tower 2271 is not just a place to live; it is a space that invites its residents to find a balance between urban life and nature, to rediscover tranquility, and to live in harmony with the environment. It is a philosophical refuge where every architectural detail is designed to enrich life and nourish the soul.

Di Frenna Arquitectos is an architecture studio based in Colinas de Santa Fe, Mexico, founded by Matia Di Frenna Müller. It is a multidisciplinary architecture and design studio with the capacity to address the challenges faced by users and their needs both within and outside the urban environment.

Their works are linked to tradition, and they constantly experiment with materials and techniques, with the support of the good and creative Mexican craftsmanship they have. They understood architecture as a space-place, whose main purpose is to excite and at the same time fulfil the function for which it was designed. Functional spaces create their architecture, trying to match monumental and sculptural volumes with little maintenance, thereby creating a very sober, functional and clean architecture.
