The Vietmamese architecture studio CTA Creative Architects has designed a modern house with the purpose of improving the internal quality of the air, in Biên Hòa in Vietnam.
Biên Hòa is the main city in the province of Dong Nai, in the southeast of Vietnam. It develops on the left bank of the Dong Nai river and is one of the oldest cities in Vietnam.

The house created by CTA Creative Architects develops on two levels and is formed by eight spaces that intersect with a common space enclosed by a wall that "breathes", as it is composed by hollow bricks that allow the circulation of outdoor air and the passage of natural light.
In order to guarantee the privacy of the internal spaces of the house, all the walls are preceded by a garden, which combined with the open wall system, creates two protective layers that are equivalent to a normal wall but allow the passage of air, making it possible for the house to "breathe".

Description of project by CTA Creative Architects
According to recently published scientific researches, indoor air quality is worse than outdoor air quality. Therefore, most of our discussions with the house owner tended to the idea of a house which is able to ‘breathe’ 24/7 by itself. Through the process of working, the Wall house is shaped gradually: A house is made up of eight separate spaces surrounded by ordinary walls. These eight blocks are interspersed and intersect at a common space, which is formed from ‘breathing walls’.
The ‘breathing wall’ consists of 2 elements:
- Open wall system is the first layer to prevent bad effects from the outside environment. This protection shell is made of hollow bricks which are lined up in the opposite direction with the conventional method of construction. With such arrangement, these hollow bricks create circulation of fresh air and natural light into the house.
- The garden space is a second layer to prevent the negative impact of the external environment on the living space inside.
These two protection layers is equivalent to a normal wall but still ensure the air and light circulation.

CTA stands for Creative Architects. It was founded in 2018 by Bui The Long, Võ The Duy, Nguyen Thi Xuan Thanh and Mai Huu Tin. It's a group of young architects, architectural activities with the spirit of learning and promoting creativity, in order to create experiences, interesting in the architectural space. Besides architectural activities, CTA also has academic, research and creative activities to create solutions to overcome outstanding issues of society today.
Over the years, his projects have received several awards. In 2017 the T-house won the first prize of the Dream House Architecture Magazine contest organized by the Vietnam Association of Architects, in 2019 Melody Stair won a prize to encourage the Dream House competition of the Beautiful House Architecture Magazine organized by the Vietnam Association of Architects, and in the same year the green gift won a prize to encourage the contest Joining hands in rural houses organized by the Vietnam Association of Architects.
