Laura Ortín Arquitectura was commissioned to renovate an apartment in Murcia city downtown, with an adaptability design program in the face of a new confinement in the current pandemic. She reconsiders a series of points that she fulfills to make living together for 24 hours at home easier.

Laura Ortín developed together with her team of new construction, renovation and furniture design, this apartment from a different era.
The renovation designed by Laura Ortín Arquitectura was selected among 80 other similar ones, characterized by hierarchical spaces. The objectives of the work were to resolve the different conflicts, giving rise to a more spacious outdoor space, flexibility of uses, areas where the user will spend much more time than usual (teleworking), and offering ambient light and comfort.

The house has an organic and natural design, where access to the rooms is totally proportional. To this is added the use of environmental materials, such as wood or paints that offer a feeling of tranquility. Obtaining an adaptive and evolutionary house as a result.

Description of project by Laura Ortín Arquitectura

An etoecological question, of how beings behave in the environment.

The project was conceived just when our bodies and after a few days our minds were confined. Could this new house withstand another confinement? We wonder. This will be perhaps from now on the new question when it comes to projecting. Because if an architecture is good because it is flexible, bright and healthy, it will endure confinement and any future situation, Because it will be adaptive, evolutionary and caring.

We find a flat from the 80s in the center of the city. Extremely compartmentalized and organized with hierarchical spaces typical of another era, of another way of living.

Natural light was paralyzed too soon, circulations forced too unnatural movements and the different rooms were watertight single-use spaces.

Mens healthy in healthy habitat.

Three things were the obsession to solve: outdoor space (plus terrace), flexibility of use (interchangeable rooms), self-care spaces (teleworking, relaxation) and environmental quality (natural light plus hours, healthy materials).

We force conflict (understood as something positive), we provoke our own exoticism and evocative architecture that would forget the continent and recreate a careful and delicate content.

The house is traversed in an organic and natural way and the transitions between rooms are proportional.

The materials accompany a healthy environment, woods, lime paints and chalk lacquers, make up a home with a "sssh" effect, in calm, in peace...
