After a process of transformation that began on November 8, and which was discovered with the same day-to-day expectation, the intervention was inaugurated on Thursday with the Pavilion already completely white.
The arrival to this pavilion is always special, being a reproduction, at the time of reproducibility it has become the myth of a reality as important as the tangible element it represents, the reality of something that was and that today is unreal.
The artistic intervention of Anna & Eugeni Bach, which will last 11 days until November 27, has transformed the well-known reconstruction of the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion into a 1:1 scale model, wearing it with a single white vinyl skin uniform.
Juhani Pallasmaa defined the intervention as “an extraordinary proposal that will evoke a lot of conversation: an exceptionally rich project in associations, memories, references and cross-references”.
In the words of Ivan Blasi, Curator of prizes and programs of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, "it is a unique opportunity in life to see the Pavilion in another state and to think about the role that materials play. The Pavilion cannot be an inert object, its reconstruction implied its continuous transformation."
Anna Ramos, Fundació Mies van der Rohe director, has said “The artistic interventions at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion stimulate critical reflection and generate new ways of contemplating the Pavilion, as well as potentiating it as a source of inspiration and experimentation when it comes to creating innovative works of art and architecture.”
