The building shape designed by WXCA serves as a link between the city's past and its contemporary spirit
The architectural competition for the new Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan envisaged a facility for cultural, scientific and educational purposes.
The architects' design introduces a modern sculptural silhouette, respecting traditional architectural expressions, proportionally echoing the 19th-century urban context.
The competition organised by the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan in collaboration with the Association of Polish Architects, aimed to create a new cultural and educational centre, aimed at both students and residents of Poznan.
The programme includes academic spaces and a regional music centre with an opera and theatre hall. In addition, the facility will house a theatre hall and a stage for performances, a chamber hall, an ambisonic hall, recording studios, and ballet and theatre studios, among many others.
The award-winning proposal by WXCA studio embodies a timeless structure that harmoniously integrates the traditional architecture and urban fabric of Poznan, while addressing the contemporary needs of the city.
