The Neutrale brand has opened its first store in Barcelona designed by the estudio DIIR, the first one they opened was in Madrid. The store is located in the city center, near the Ciudadela Park and various museums.

This 80 sqm store continues with the Mediterranean aesthetic, placing the brand identity and the sales experience, two of the concepts most researched by the brand, in the foreground but using new aesthetic resources.
The Neutrale store designed by the estudio DIIR is based on the qualities of the premises to fully exploit its advantages. Starting from the space, two devices are introduced that completely define the space: a curved wall that draws the geometry of the space and proposes a unique sales experience, and a three-step stand that welcomes the customer and functions as a counter.

The materials used seek to emphasize the austerity and neatness of the space, so the wall and the stands are built with Fetdeterra, a solution composed of blocks of compacted earth whose stacking offers versatility and provides an earthy tone typical of the Balearic essence. This solution contrasts with the steel display pieces that provide a clean and refined aesthetic. Finally, fabrics are used as curtains that dialogue with the monumentality of the solid blocks.

Project description by estudio DIIR

Neutrale's first store in Barcelona continues the exploration begun in previous spaces. Once again, the Mediterranean aesthetic characterizes the atmosphere and achieves it, in this case, using new aesthetic resources. Brand identity and sales experience, two of the most researched concepts in the office´s professional practice, are once again at the forefront.

First of all, the excellent qualities of the original premises are used to bring out the advantages of the space. In that sense, any kind of physical barrier is visually eliminated and a radical and courageous strategy is established. The introduction of two sculptural elements defines the space. A curved wall draws the geometry of the space and, consequently, presents a singular retail experience. Its location proposes a radial path, through which the user enjoys the display of garments. At the same time, a three-step grandstand serves as a welcoming piece. Its longitudinal character is not only used to display the product but also functions as a counter. Both elements face the street as a showcase and "embrace" the customer from the moment he/she enters.

This exploration of new exhibition devices must be complemented with a careful selection of materials. The desire to emphasize the austerity and neatness of the space leads to the use of three materials. Wall and bench are made entirely of Fetdeterra, a solution made of compacted earth blocks whose stacking offers versatility. A material that, in addition to being km.0 and standing out for its sustainable qualities, provides an earthy tone that reflects the essence of the Balearic Islands. This solution, massive and forceful, contrasts with the steel exhibition pieces. The tectonic character of coat racks and shelves provides a clean and refined aesthetic. Finally, fabrics are used as curtains. The sinuosity of these elements dialogues with the monumentality of the massive blocks.

estudio DIIR is an architecture firm based in Madrid founded in 2018 by David Meana, Ignacio Navarro, Iñigo Palazón and Ricardo Fernández, all of them architects from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), complemented their training with international experiences in the United States, Sweden, France, China or India. This opportunity has given them an open perspective that they now apply in each of their innovative works.

Their projects, marked by a strong strategic and conceptual positioning, have received national and international recognition. Facing projects of multiple scales has allowed them to develop a practice that explores infinite ways to achieve uniqueness through sensitivity and rigor. The various public projects won at the beginning of their journey - some of them currently under construction - are combined with private commissions of all kinds. The achievement of this variety of works has allowed the studio to be awarded by the COAM as an emerging studio in several consecutive years.

Their work has received national and international recognition. In 2018, he was awarded first prize for the construction of a new cultural centre in Los Molinos (Madrid). At the beginning of 2019, he won first prize for the landscaping of Villamayor de Gállego (Zaragoza). And in 2020, he won first prize for the construction of the social-health centre in Plasencia (Cáceres). In addition, he was recently selected among five international finalists to carry out the Museum of Archaeology and Prehistory in Santander.

The strategic and conceptual positioning developed in the various design competitions in which he has been awarded is transferred to domestic spaces. From offices and shops to renovations and homes, estudio DIIR explores various ways to achieve uniqueness through innovation and rigour.

DIIR's philosophy is a dialogue between beauty and life experience. They conceive and transform spaces as places in constant interaction with people's life experience, influencing their daily lives and the quality of their existence. DIIR is a dialogue between rigor and sensitivity. The perseverance and precision with which we approach each project coexists with the delicacy to achieve solutions that are guided by the search for uniqueness. DIIR is a dialogue between timelessness and resonance. Their work moves away from trends and fashions with the aim of achieving spaces that endure over time and that, in turn, have the capacity to generate an impact on those who interact with them.
