Florentino Pérez presented the joint project by GMP Arquitectos and L35 Ribas, winner of the International Tender for Architectural Ideas for the remodelling of the Santiago Bernabéu, at the stadium´s directors´ box this afternoon.

The new Real Madrid Bernabeu design will be by German firm GMP and the Catalan architects, L35 Ribas.
The losers were the teams of Rafael Moneo and the Swiss Herzog & de Meuron, Norman Foster and Rafael de la Hoz, and Carlos Lamela and Populous.
All architects received on January 29, 2014, a call from Real Madrid where they were told the decisión.
Volkwin Marg, the German architect who heads the bid to turn the Whites’ stronghold into an architectural icon and an international leader in sports venues, said that the goal is “to transform it into the most advanced and developed twenty-first century stadium. This building is undoubtedly the most important project of our careers”.
The president of Real Madrid stated that: “We want to turn the Santiago Bernabéu into the best stadium in the world and to create a better football experience for the fans. The best stadium in a unique location that will be a global symbol”.
The main support for the project, by GMP, has been Florentino Pérez. Coincidentally, one of the architects who designed the stadium with the German company, architect Josep Ribas, is a member of Barcelona, that also did not like some managers of Real Madrid.
The club were those who opted for the new stadium was designed by a firm of international standing as Rafael Moneo, Norman Foster and Herzog & De Meuron, These architects finally were relegated.
The president of Real Madrid officially announced that the project by GMP Arquitectos and L35 Ribas is the winner of the "International Tender for Architectural Ideas for the remodelling of the Santiago Bernabéu". The budgeted cost is 400 million euros.
