The exhibition “Herzog & de Meuron: In Focus,” curated by M+, draws inspiration from the Kabinett, a foundation established in 2015 by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron as a permanent repository of architectural ideas and knowledge for research and exchange. The exhibition presents its objects in replicas of the wooden display cases designed for the studio’s open archive in Basel, Switzerland. It brings together a significant selection of models, drawings, material samples, and prototypes donated to the M+ Collection, offering a closer look at the perspectives that shape the studio’s architectural vision.
This donation follows Herzog & de Meuron’s first contribution to M+ in 2023: a model of the Beijing National Stadium (2002–2008), popularly known as the “Bird’s Nest.” This second phase expands the M+ Collection with more than two hundred materials from the construction process. Since the early 2000s, Herzog & de Meuron has maintained a deep and unwavering commitment to China’s rapid growth and urban transformation, contributing to landmark cultural and civic projects such as museums, academic institutions, sports stadiums, and city master plans. “Herzog & de Meuron: In Focus” highlights ten projects, both built and unbuilt, in China, reflecting the firm’s long history in the region and its technological and design evolution. Each project is analyzed through its response to site, materials, and cultural context, revealing and developing a distinctive architectural language.

The exhibition “Herzog & de Meuron: In Focus” is curated by Ikko Yokoyama, Chief Curator and Director of Design and Architecture at M+, with support from Iris Ng, Deputy Curator of Design and Architecture at M+. M+ will also host an architectural tour throughout the exhibition, led by M+ volunteer guides. Visitors are invited to discover the museum’s unique architectural features and design details.

Ticket Sales
Visitors can access all M+ galleries with a single-price ticket. Tickets cost HKD 190 for adults and HKD 100 for those eligible for discounts*. Combined adult and child tickets are also available for HKD 250 (for one adult and one child) or HKD 400 (for two adults and one child).
