Strategically located away from the shade cast by a row of casuarina trees, the house designed by GAA – Grupo abierto de Arquitectura features a particularly compact and enclosed volume, crowned by a hipped roof. Its introverted character responds to the need to protect the interior life.
For its construction, the house employs a building system previously chosen by the clients. A simple structure, composed of metal frames, is punctuated by a series of windows that connect the interior spaces with the surrounding vegetation and landscape.

Project description by GAA – Grupo abierto de Arquitectura
A young couple who found a plot of land on the outskirts of the city contacted us. They told us about their decision to leave urban life behind and live in the countryside. We proposed a courtyard house, a patio house, that would guarantee the privacy they sought and the necessary shelter in the middle of the lot.
This atrium not only provides the desired protection but also organizes the access and interior spaces of the house. Located away from the shade cast by a row of casuarina trees and on the axis of the lot, its silhouette and a series of future expansions ensure the success of this closed-plan layout.
Structurally, the house is resolved as a simple metal frame structure, a construction system previously chosen by the clients. Above these structural walls, the windows frame the views of the interior and the surrounding trees.
