"A World of Wonder". Street art, sculpture, and performance by Anna Devís and Daniel Rueda

Through an entirely manual and handcrafted process—one that deliberately avoids the use of artificial intelligence—architects Anna Devís and Daniel Rueda create performative and interactive photographs. These images form part of A World of Wonders, an exhibition that invites visitors to engage with the works and become active participants in them. The exhibition will be on view at the National Taiwan Science Education Center until September 28, 2026.

Featuring more than 70 works across 20 interactive installations, the exhibition unfolds over a 1,000-square-metre space. It brings together elements of street art, sculpture, and performance, without relying on digital tools or artificial intelligence.

Each photograph is the result of a meticulous creative process that begins with an idea and a sketch. From there, the artists scout locations, carefully construct each scene, and design the sets, props, and costumes. Everything is produced without digital editing, with particular attention paid to architecture, light, and colour.

"A World of Wonder" is an exhibition performance created by architects Anna Devís and Daniel Rueda. Through the tour of its more than 70 works, the public is immersed in an immersive experience. Through the premise of "being part of the work", the exhibition unfolds its visual universe, breaking with the physical barriers of traditional museums in which the viewer is not a mere observer, he is the protagonist. These real and imaginary scenes demonstrate that art is not complete until the visitor inhabits it and makes it their own.

A way of creating that takes on a new meaning
Each of his images has a meticulous creation process, hiding a complex planning in which each color, shape and texture fit with millimeter precision to transmit a visual story that surprises with its ingenuity and harmony, in which shapes, volumes, scale games and optical illusions are physically resolved through a process that combines architecture, photography, design, fashion and craftsmanship.

From Seoul to Taipei
"A World of Wonder" continues the international journey of Anna Devís and Daniel Rueda after the Happygraphers exhibition, which could be visited until March 30, 2025 at the Hangaram Art Museum of the Seoul Arts Center, in South Korea. That exhibition presented nearly a hundred works by the duo and moved some of their scenography to a large museum space for the first time.

The new Taipei exhibition expands this approach, adding from three to twenty interactive installations, and takes its visual language to a larger scale, with a route designed so that the viewer stops being just an observer and becomes part of the work. The exhibition has been developed in collaboration with the firm GUBEIDING, in charge of materializing the duo's artistic vision in this immersive and large-scale format.

A nod to Taipei culture
Among the installations created for the exhibition is Strawordinary, a work inspired by pearl tea that establishes a direct connection with Taiwanese culture. The photograph comes to life in the form of a large-scale installation and allows the public to enter a composition that transforms one of the most recognizable elements of daily life in Taipei into a visual scene marked by humor, color and play.

Anna Devís and Daniel Rueda are two young Spanish photographers, Hasselblad ambassadors, and were recently included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Arts and Culture category. They met while studying at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where they graduated from the School of Architecture. This creative duo now uses their architectural knowledge to tell stories through playful and surprising images, moving away from conventional architectural photography.

Their distinctive style is characterized by a sense of visual humor, creativity, precision, and a delicate aesthetic inspired by geometry, minimalism, and the city. Combining their spatial perception and artistic vision, based primarily on simple shapes and bold patterns, they have created magnetic and joyful narratives that cleverly suggest both the nature of human relationships and the fascination with the urban environment.

Although it may seem surprising or hard to believe, Anna and Daniel manage to create these surreal scenes without using any software. Instead, they construct the scene on-site using all sorts of everyday objects, unexpected locations, and vast amounts of natural light.

Their work has been exhibited in museums and cultural spaces around the world, including France, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and India. In 2021, their work was presented in Madrid's Plaza de Callao in a retrospective that brought their creative universe closer to the public.

Beyond photography, their exhibitions include immersive installations in which they recreate some of their compositions at life-size scale, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in their creative process and experience firsthand the meticulousness of their staging. This interactive approach has transformed their exhibitions into unique artistic experiences, where the viewer not only observes but actively participates in the duo's visual universe.

Anna Devís Benet

Anna Devís Benet (b. in Albuixech, Valencia, Spain, in 1990) is a photographer, visual artist, and trained architect, widely recognized for transforming ordinary urban spaces into poetic, geometric, and humorous scenes. She studied Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where she met photographer Daniel Rueda, who later became her creative partner. She also completed a master’s degree in Design and Illustration, an education reflected in the careful planning of her images.

From childhood, Devís was closely connected to the visual arts. Her parents worked as window dressers, and she spent many hours drawing and painting in their studio. She later discovered photography as an immediate way to turn her ideas into real compositions.

Together with Rueda, Devís creates photographs inspired by architecture, minimalism, simple forms, and color patterns. Their scenes are usually prepared through sketches, everyday objects, handmade installations, and natural light, with almost no digital manipulation.

In 2020, both artists became global Hasselblad ambassadors and were included in Forbes Europe’s “30 Under 30” list for Art and Culture. Their work has appeared in international media, advertising campaigns, and exhibitions worldwide. In 2023, they published their first book, Happytecture, presenting the distinctive creative universe they have built together.

Daniel Rueda Cuerda

Daniel Rueda Cuerda. (b. Albacete, Spain, 1990) is a photographer, visual artist, and trained architect, known for transforming buildings and urban spaces into minimalist, colourful compositions filled with humour. He studied Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he met Anna Devís Benet, who became his creative partner and frequent collaborator.

Before devoting himself fully to artistic creation, Rueda developed a particular interest in architectural photography. His training enabled him to observe façades, volumes, lines, and perspectives with great precision. Together with Devís, he began producing carefully planned images using sketches, carefully selected locations, everyday objects, clothing, and handmade installations.

The duo’s work is characterized by the use of geometric shapes, vibrant colours, natural light, and meticulously arranged poses. Their photographs involve very little digital manipulation, as the scenes are physically constructed before being photographed.

Rueda has collaborated with international brands and exhibited his work in several countries. In 2020, he and Devís were included in Forbes Europe’s 30 Under 30 list and appointed Hasselblad ambassadors. In 2023, they published Happytecture, a book that brings together their distinctive creative vision of architecture and the urban landscape.
